Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry (R), spent His first day in Office, signing Two Executive Orders, and calling a Special Session that could lead to the End of the State's Open Primary system.
Currently, All Candidates are put on One Ballot, regardless of Party.
In a Monday Statement, Landry, the First Republican Governor in Louisiana in Eight years, announced Multiple Actions including: establishing the Office of the First Lady and Education Reforms.
The Veto of Graduation Appeals Process Executive Order, sets up New Minimum Standards for Students in Key Subjects.
The State's Primary process, could be Changed during a required Special Session to discuss Redistricting.
The Governor's Office promised the Session, taking place Jan. 15th to Jan. 23rd, will deal with Redistricting and also "other Election related Changes".
Louisiana's Open Primary System is used only for State and Local Elections, and is Not relied on for Presidential Primary Votes.
There is No Primary. The General Election is run around October 14th.
If there is No Majority Winner (50%+1) after this First Round of Voting, The Top Two Candidates, go to a Runoff Election.
The Runoff Election is held around November 18th.
