United We Stand Fest 2016 Campaign

As we approach the 2016 United States Presidential Election, so do we approach the need to allow more voices at the Presidential Debates to beget more choices for the people.

The Free and Equal Elections Foundation rose to the challenge by uplifting conscious minds each year at the United We Stand Fests.

This year, their team is reaching new heights and climbing to the summit of the Macky Auditorium Concert Hall located on the campus of the University of Colorado Boulder with the goal to educate, empower, and inspire the next wave of future leaders.

On October 25, 2016, the Free and Equal Elections Foundation will hold an Open Presidential Debate to ensure that they make advances to fair, just, and impartial Elections by breaking away from the conglomerate Two-Party system and allowing for more Presidential Nominees to debate.

Leveling this platform grants the opportunity to move towards a Government elected by the people, for the people, chosen to serve a Nation, and not manage one.

Second Annual Voting Methods and Election Integrity Symposium

Free & Equal’s first annual Voting Methods & Election Integrity Symposium, Nov. 2014

The second annual Voting Methods & Election Integrity Symposium will take place at Infinity Park in Glendale, CO on Saturday, November 14th, 2015 from 9AM-4PM MT.

The event is hosted by the Free and Equal Elections Foundation and co-sponsored by Fair Elections for Colorado, with additional sponsors expected to be announced.  The Symposium will be live-streamed online for free.

With the 2016 presidential elections coming up, important issues like abolishing the Electoral College are hot-button topics, in addition to changing the methods of voting to ranked choice voting, approval voting, etc. 

A mock election was held at the first annual Symposium.  Alternative party and independent candidates did exceptionally well under a system of ranked choice voting and approval voting, because it gives people the opportunity to vote their hearts (favorite sons/daughters, vanity candidates, and issue candidates as their 1st vote), without fear of tipping the election to an unfavorable candidate.

The experts that participate in the symposium will be integrated into Free and Equal’s revolutionary Election Assistant, to provide relevant, powerful, and educational commentary about the electoral system for use by voters and candidates alike.

With the issues facing America in the world, it is important to not only address, but implement these various solutions sooner rather than later, ideally by the 2016 presidential election.  Even something as simple as getting the public more involved in election watching, where individuals watch the votes being counted to ensure accuracy and fairness, can do wonders to make sure that the voters’ voices are heard.  Many states have already used alternative voting methods, from approval voting in Oregon to ranked choice voting in Maine on the municipal level.  These solutions are not abstract, they are practical and vital to the future of open and transparent elections.

Voting Methods and Election Integrity Symposium

The Voting Methods & Election Integrity Symposium will take place at Infinity Park Cherry Creek Room in Glendale, CO on Saturday, November 15th from 9AM-4PM.  The event is hosted by the Free and Equal Elections Foundation and co-sponsored by organizations such as Fair Elections for Colorado, FairVote, and Ballot Access News.

In order to find meaningful reforms to voting and electoral systems, the symposium will explore voting methods such as approval voting, instant runoff, proportional representation, and more, as well as issues of election integrity, such as closed-source electronic voting machines, the Electoral College, gerrymandering, Top Two primary systems, and more.  Many Americans are discouraged from voting for their candidate of choice for many reasons, one of which is the current system of single-winner plurality voting, as well as concerns over the integrity of the elections themselves.  The goal is to directly challenge the electoral status-quo by empowering voters and candidates alike.

Many amazing panelists are lining up to help propose solutions for our voting and elections systems, including FairVote’s Rob Richie (via Skype), Aaron Hamlin of the Center for Election Science, Bill Redpath of the Libertarian Party, and Richard Winger, editor of Ballot Access News and advisory board member of Free and Equal.

The event will be live-streamed on the Free and Equal Network.

This summer, they will launch their ELECTION ASSISTANT, with in-depth information on all candidates, with a questionnaire on the many crucial issues not covered by media monopolies.

We need politicians who represent the multiple perspectives of the people, not the selfish agenda of a few.  We need to stop fighting amongst ourselves so that we can concentrate our efforts on electing leaders who work for the people.  If our elected officials don’t care what we think, what’s the use of protesting and signing petitions or arguing with each other?
