Lodi Hydrogen Project Funding Cut

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has Canceled nearly $8 billion in Projects Nationwide, including a $35 million Project for the Lodi Hydrogen Facility, Sparking a Fight over Clean Energy in Northern California.

"We're not going to let this go without a fight," vowed Rep. Josh Harder (D-CA, 9th District): "It was going to lead to people paying less to heat up their homes and cool their homes and use their electricity in Lodi."

Lodi City Councilmember Mikey Hothi (D-CA, 5th District) Highlighted the Economic Impact of the Project, which would have brought a Boost to the Community. "This project would have created hundreds of good-paying union jobs, not only construction jobs, but ongoing clean energy jobs," Hothi said. He also noted the Project's Significance as a Historic asset for the Valley.

"This is going to be a conversion of the facility from natural gas to hydrogen. There's a massive need for hydrogen throughout the country. This would have been the first green hydrogen project in the entire country as well and now we're back to square one," Hothi said.

Rep. Harder (D-CA, 9th District) has sent a Letter Demanding an immediate Reversal of the Funding Cuts. "I've written to the Secretary of Energy, and we're going to keep fighting this as hard as we can," Harder said. "I don't think this battle is lost."
