TN Won’t Remove People From Voting Rolls For Not Proving Citizenship

A New Letter has been sent to thousands of Tennessee Voters, after a Notice last month was criticized as possible Voter Intimidation.

The June Notice said Voters had to prove they are a U.S. Citizen or Request to be Removed from the Voter Roll. It also Warned the Registered Voters that they would go to Jail for up to Two years for Voting Illegally.

Tennessee Election Officials now said in a Second Letter sent to the same 14,000 People, that they will Not be Removed from the Voting Rolls if they Do Not Reply to the First Letter.

The State used Driver’s License data from 2003, to support Sending the Letters.

Election Office wanted to clear up Confusion from the Original Letter and criticized Organizations for calling it Voter Intimidation.

The Secretary of State’s Office said more than 1,200 Letters were sent to People in Antioch. Another 645 were sent to the South Nashville area.

After the Original Letter was sent, an Investigation into how these Voters were Selected started. On Friday, they still have Not received a clear Explanation.

Since the Letters were sent, nearly 3,200 people have provided Evidence of their Citizenship, and more than 300 People have Requested to be Removed from the Voter Rolls.
