Common Cause Summer of 2024 Issues by State:

COLORADO: All Four Bills Passed, and is waiting the Governor's Signature:

The Election Candidate Deepfake Disclosures Act: Will Protect Colorado's Elections from Unrestricted use of AI Deepfakes in Candidate Campaigns, so that every Voter is informed when a Political Addepicts Fake Speech.

The Sensitive Spaces Act: Will Ban Fire-Arms from Polling places.

The Jail Based Voting Act: Will create access to Voting, Voter Registration, and Nonpartisan Ballot Education Resources for Confined Voters in 61 County Jails. In 20022, less than 5% of Eligible Confined Voters received access to a Ballot.

Compensation For State Elected Officials: Will create an Independent Commission for setting Elected Officials'Salaries, putting Power into the hands of everyday Colorandans representing a variety of Work-Force Sectors.

MARYLAND:

Protecting Election Officials: Passed with Bipartisan Support in Both Chambers. The Law creates a New Misdemeanor Charge for those who Threaten Election Officials or their Families.

MINNESOTA: Elections Finance and Policy Omnibus Bill is waiting for the Governor to Sign.

End Prison Gerymandering: Will have Fair Census Counting by Counting Incarcerated at their Last Addess.

Expand Polling Places: Increase Access to the Ballot for those attending Four-Year Institutions and Expand Voter Registration by allowing Voters to Physically describe where they are residing, so those on Tribal Lands, and the unhoused, can now Register.

Establish the Minnesota Voting Rights Act: Combat Racial Profiling and Discrimination in Voting, due to Erosion of the Federal Voting Rights Act (VRA).

Protect Voters From Disinformation: Sets UP Standards to Combat AI Deepfakes in Elections.

NEBRASKA: A successful Campaign to Restore Voting Rights for People who served their time for Felony Convictions. The New Law Removes the Arbitrary Two-Year waiting period to gain the Right-to-Vote.

NEW YORK: Common Cause was the 1st to File a Complaint with the Federal Election Commision FEC) and the Department of Justice (DOJ), alleging that Trump's Hush Money Payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, constituted Campaign Finance Violations, hiding Key Information from Voters.

OHIO: Collected more than 170,000 Signatures, across 88 Counties, for the "Citizens Not Politicians Ameddment".

The Amendment is a Citizen Initiative to End Gerrymandering. It Bans Lobbyists and Politicans from Redistring Process, instead establishes the Ohio Citizens Redistricting Commission, empowering Citizens to draw Fair Districts using an Open and Transparent process.

With the Signature Collection Phase soon coming to an End, they are looking for Strong Voter Education efforts thru the Summer and Fall. Then when it Passes and is on the Ballot, It passes in November.
