NYC Mayor Named His Top Housing Aides

New York City Mayor, Eric Adams (D), named his Top Housing Aides Sunday:

Jessica Katz - as the Chief Housing Officer.

Katz is the Executive Director of the Housing Nonprofit, Citizens Housing and Planning Council. She first worked for the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) in 2003, as a Production Manager for the Division of Special Needs Housing, leaving in 2009 to Lead the supportive-Housing Nonprofit Lantern Organization. She returned to HPD in 2012, as Associate Commissioner for New Construction.

Adolfo Carrión Jr. - as Commissioner of the Department of Housing Preservation and Development.

Adolfo Carrión Jr. is an American Businessman, and served:

- Served One Term as a Member of the New York City Council representing the 14th District.

- Served for Seven years as the Borough President of the Bronx.

- Served for a year and Five months as the First Director of the White House Office of Urban Affairs in the Obama Administration.

- Served for nearly Two years as Regional Administrator for HUD's New York and New Jersey Regional Office. He left HUD in February 2012.

- In late 2012, Carrión Registered as an Independent, to begin exploring a run for Mayor of New York City, and in February 2013 he was Granted the Independence Party Nomination. I was on the New York City Independence Party Executive Board, and the County/State Representative for thr 73rd Assembly District, during his Campaign. I also worked on the Three Bloomburg Mayoral Campaigns.

The Announcements come amid a rocky Transition that has Delayed some of Adams’ Personnel moves, and Controversy over his Decision Not to name a Deputy Mayor for Housing.

Adams brushed off those concerns at a City Hall Press Conference Sunday, but also acknowledged that the Dominance of Crime concerns in his First weeks in Office, has drowned out some other Issues.
