New York's Closed Party Primaries and registration dates set by State law will not permit thousands of voters who switched party registration to vote in the April 19 Presidential Primary.
Nearly 15,000 Long Island voters who changed parties since late last year because they want to “feel the Bern,” or back “The Donald” or help make or break Hillary Clinton are likely to be sorely disappointed if they try to vote in the April 19 Presidential Primary.
Those who switched parties after Oct. 9, 2015, will be able to vote in the Primary, but not in the party they thought they joined, and only if their old party was Democrat or Republican.
