NYC Housing Authority Criticized in Comptroller’s Audit

Comptroller Scott Stringer announces the findings of an audit of the New York City Housing Authority's vacancy management

Some 1,366 New York City Housing Authority apartments are vacant and awaiting repairs, according to an audit by Comptroller Scott Stringer.

Another 976 units are between tenants, despite a 270,000-name waiting list for the city's public housing.

The audit also found that apartments needing repairs stay vacant for an average of more than seven years.

This is criminal.
