New York City will launch a program to provide free breakfasts in the classrooms of public elementary schools, to start this fall.
Previously, students had to sign up for the meals and eat them before school in the cafeteria.
The program, part of the $78.5 billion city budget deal announced this week, is expected to take three years to fully implement
Some $10 million was allocated for free vision screenings to students at 130 public schools.
The eye-wear firm Warby Parker will provide free glasses to those who need them.
