In the months ahead, New Yorkers will renew the campaign to make the Empire State the next to call for a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United.
The campaign launches with showings throughout New York of the powerful documentary “Pay2Play”. This will build momentum for a rally in Albany in January on the fifth anniversary of Citizens United.

The attacks on the Citizens United decision are not rational. In 1976 the US Supreme Court ruled that independent expenditures cannot be regulated. That was Buckley v Valeo. That was the important decision. Also in 1978 in Bellotti v First National Bank of Boston, the US Supreme Court ruled that corporations cannot be banned from speaking out about ballot measures. All Citizens United did was extend that to candidate elections. It's Buckley v Valeo that is the important decision.
Corporations are not people and should not be treated so. It will take another case or a constitutional amendment to bring it back to the Supreme Court to overturn Buckley v Valeo.
I meant get rid of Citizen United.
