Michael Bloomberg’s money is all over the political map.
The ex-mayor’s political action committee on Tuesday announced plans to spend $25 million on ads supporting candidates he deems centrists in the November elections.
Bloomberg will back five gubernatorial candidates, including two Republicans in tight races, Charlie Baker in Massachusetts, who’s running against Democrat Martha Coakley, and Rick Snyder in Michigan against challenger Mark Schauer.
But his aisle-crossing does not apply to the fight for the Senate.
Though he supported two Senate Republicans against Tea Party challengers in primaries, he is backing only Democrats in Senate General Elections.
Bloomberg, who is separately spending $50 million to back pro-gun-control candidates, has already given to the Harry Reid-linked Senate Majority PAC, and is backing endangered Democratic Sens. Mark Udall in Colorado, Mary Landrieu in Louisiana and Kay Hagan in North Carolina, all of whom voted for background-check legislation.
