Over 1,000 Illegal Voters in Eight VA Localities

More than 1,000 aliens, or residents who are not U.S. citizens, have been free to vote illegally in Virginia.

The disclosure was made in a report released by the Virginia Voters Alliance based on findings from the Public Interest Legal Foundation. “The problem is most certainly exponentially worse because we have no data regarding aliens on the registration rolls for the other 125 Virginia localities.”

The 1,046 Virginia voters may just be the tip of the iceberg, as it’s only the number found in eight Virginia localities, the report reads. The report found that the most illegal votes were cast in 2012, followed by 2008, the year President Obama was elected to his first term. In both years, Obama won Virginia.

It’s a felony for Non-Citizens to vote in Virginia. But in Virginia, no Proof of Citizenship is required when voters register.

In some cases, aliens and permanent residents will register to vote and either admit on the form they are not citizens, or they will mislead, according to Christian Adams, General Counsel for the Foundation. Local officials can check each voter later by matching data from the Virginia Driver’s License Bureaus (DMV), where the aliens in question are usually likely not to mislead authorities on their status.

It's how some of the Non-Citizens were caught. The report lists all of the 1,046 non-citizens by name.

The disclosure is a major problem for Virginia and the Nation. One thousand votes or so is enough to swing a close election in the State. In 2013, the Democratic candidate for Attorney General won by fewer than 1,000 votes.

It's also not inconceivable that a Presidential race could come down to 1,000 votes or less, as happened in Florida in 2000. Like Florida, Virginia is considered a Swing State.

The Virginia Voters Alliance looked into the issue first with Alexandria, Virginia. The alliance noticed that the Northern Virginia city had more people registered to vote than eligible voters who lived there. The alliance found 70 Non-Citizens had registered. The Non-Citizens had been purged from the Voter rolls, but in some cases, had voted in the interim.

The watchdog group moved the investigation wider and soon met resistance. Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a Democrat and an old friend of Clinton, told a key staffer to advise officials in other Virginia localities to ignore Adams' requests for information.

The problem of Non-Citizens is likely worse than what the alliance found in eight Virginia localities. "The problem is most certainly exponentially worse because we have no data regarding aliens on the registration rolls for the other 125 Virginia localities," the report reads. "Even in this small sample, when the voting history of this small sample of alien registrants is examined, nearly 200 verified ballots were cast before they were removed from the rolls. Each one of them is likely a felony."

Some reasons this problem can happen:

1. When any state allows Non-Citizens to obtain drivers licenses, DMV employees by habit, give the person a Voter Registration form.

2. Board of Elections not properly vetting bulk delivery of Voter Registrations from Get-Out-the-Vote drives.

3. The U.S. is reacting to Voters Registering with a "It's a Crime" message on the form, which process was created in a different time. We should be proactive today and require Proof of Citizenship to register to Vote.

Maryland Non-Citizens Voting Problem

An election integrity watchdog group is suing the state of Maryland, alleging that it has discovered massive and ongoing fraudulent voting by non-U.S. citizens in one county.  But because of the way that the non-citizens are able to cast votes in elections, the fraud is likely happening in every single county and subdivision across the state.  The group believes that the illegal voting has been happening for years.

The group, Virginia Voters Alliance, says that it compared how voters in Frederick County filled out jury duty statements compared with their voting records.  The group’s investigation found that thousands of people in Frederick County who stated that they are not U.S. citizens on jury duty forms went on to cast votes in elections. Either they failed to tell the truth when they were summoned for jury duty, or they cast illegal votes.  Both are crimes. The same group previously found that about 40,000 people are registered to vote in both Virginia and Maryland.  One in seven Maryland residents are non-U.S. citizens.

Maryland state law makes it easier for non-citizens, both those present legally and those in the country against the law, to vote.  Maryland issues drivers licenses to legal and illegal aliens.  Driver’s licenses in turn make it easier under the Motor Voter law to register to vote.

The group filed suit in Baltimore’s U.S. District Court. They are suing the Frederick County Board of Elections and the Maryland State Board of Elections.

The purpose of the lawsuit is to mandate those responsible for the administration of the election process will remove the non-citizens from the final voting count.

The purpose of the investigation by the special prosecutor is to penetrate more deeply statewide and determine why this fraud or any other related violation was allowed to occur.

The purpose of new legislation is to plug the massive loophole in current law which permitted these fraudulent practices to take place.
