Txas has Implemented its New “Arrest and Jail” Operation to deter Illegal Immigration, resulting in nearly 10,000 Arrests.
The New Law expands the Authority to make Arrests, and allow Local Judges to Order Migrants out of the Country.
Texas-Mexico Border Crossings reached 1.2 million, leading to the Initiative to Arrest Migrants on Misdemeanor Trespassing Charges.
Gov. Greg Abbott (R) said, “When people start learning about this, they’re going to stop coming across the Texas border.”
Maverick County Sheriff Tom Schmerber said, “They’re still coming through here.”
Spokesperson Ericka Miller said, “Had we not been there, all of it likely would have crossed into the country unimpeded.”
“The state of Texas is working to send a message to those considering crossing into the country illegally to think again,” added Miller.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has made over 37,000 Criminal Aarrests, including Gang Members and Sex Offenders.
The Initiative has faced Llegal Challenges and Claims of Due Process Violations.
In a Letter to Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas, Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian M. Boynton, Objected to the New Texas Law designed to Combat Illegal Immigration and Threatened to Sue the State "unless Texas agrees to refrain from enforcing the law."
