St. Joseph's Indian School

St. Joseph’s Indian School, an apostolate of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart, partners with Native American children and families to educate for life, mind, body, heart and spirit.

The school serves Lakota (Sioux) children and families since 1927.  They house and educate 200 children each year.

Child poverty and abuse are serious issues on Indian reservations.  By supporting St. Joseph's Indian School, you are helping Native American children in need to regain pride in the Lakota (Sioux) culture by learning the Lakota language, studying Native American culture and healing the broken family circle from which they come.

So here is my story.

Barbara and I were married in Santa Fe, New Mexico, by a Pueblo Federal Judge, in 2003.  As payment he requested we donate to this school.  We have been a donors ever since and enjoy keeping track of our growing extended family.

Graduation - St. Joseph's Indian School

As a donor to this school, I am very proud of the graduation classes.


Graduating from eighth grade is a milestone for many Lakota (Sioux) young people in South Dakota ... especially since drop out rates on South Dakota's reservations can reach up to 70%.

At St. Joseph's Indian School, Native American youth not only enjoy a safe, stable, culturally rich environment to live and learn, but also they have the opportunity to overcome the adverse odds into which they were born.

Thanks to private donations from friends around the country, Lakota children in need receive the attention and care necessary to reach their dreams!
