In June, the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission moved one Critical Step Closer to Approving a Massive Tar Sands Oil Pipeline, but Pipeline Fighters and Water Protectors aren’t backing down.
Canadian Oil Company Enbridge wants to run this Line from Alberta to Wisconsin through the sacred Wild Rice Beds and Treaty Territory of the Anishinaabe People, crossing Multiple Canadian Provinces and Three U.S. States.
That’s Bad enough, but Line 3 would carry the Climate Equivalent of 50 Coal Power Plants’ worth of Oil, Unlocking Dirty Tar Sands in Canada that must be left Underground to Limit the Climate Crisis.
The Governor of Minnesota can play a Key Role in stopping this Disaster, Gov. Mark Dayton needs to Act Now. And since Gov. Dayton is Retiring, the Next Governor, who takes Office in January, will also be Critical to Winning this Fight.
Dayton has taken some Steps through State Agencies that could help Stop Line 3, but he needs to Hear from All of Us across the Country in Order to take Bolder Action and keep this Tar Sands Pipeline from being Built.

We’ve got to Ramp up the Pressure on both Minnesota’s current Governor and on his Successor. All of Minnesota’s State Agencies, from the Dept. of Commerce to the Pollution Control Agency to the Dept. of Natural Resources, must do everything they can to keep Line 3 from being Built.
The Record on Line 3 is clear: A New Tar Sands Pipeline would be a Danger to Minnesota, and a Blatant Assault on Indigenous Rights, our Lakes and Rivers, and our Climate. The Public Utilities Commission Failed to Respect the Robust Evidence submitted, and Approved Line 3 over the Loud and Explicit Objections of State Agencies, Intervening Tribes, Minnesota’s Youth, Indigenous Rights and Environmental Groups, and 94% of Public Comments made during the Consultation.
