Scientists believe they have Detected a Strange Object, Hidden in Old Infrared Sky Surveys, and it might be the Strongest Evidence so far, that Planet Nine is Real.
The Theory of Planet Nine emerged in 2016,after Astronomers noticed Unusual Orbital Behavior among Icy Objects far beyond Neptune. Those Odd Motions suggested the Presence of something Huge possibly a Planet around Ten times the Mass of Earth far past Pluto.
Now a Research Team, led by Terry Long Phan at National Tsing Hua University has Identified a Faint Object appearing in Data from Two Space Telescopes IRAS from 1983 and AKARI from 2006.
The Object appears to have Shifted Position between the Two Observations, which suggests it is Slowly Orbiting the Sun at an Incredible Distance of roughly 700 AU about 65 billion miles away. Based on its Infrared Glow, it could be Larger than Neptune and may take Thousands of years to complete a Single Orbit.
While this is Not a Confirmation, yet the Discovery is Exciting because the Object appears in both Datasets, something No previous Planet Nine Candidate has Achieved. The Next Step is Follow-Up Observations, using Powerful Ground based Instruments, such as the Dark Energy Camera in Chile.
If this Object turns out to be Planet Nine, it could Completely Reshape our Understanding of the Solar System. It may have Formed near the Giant Planets before being thrown Outward or it could have been Captured from another Star System.
With Next Generation Observatories like the Vera C Rubin Observatory, and the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope. coming Online Planet Nine may finally be Forced Out of the Shadows.
