Ukraine Strikes Chechen Special Forces Unit

A Russian Special Forces Base and an FSB Building in Chechnya, were Struck by Ukrainian Drones Ahead of Peace Talks in Moscow. The Base of the Akhmat Unit in Gudermes was Rocked by a Large Explosion on Tuesday Morning, with Footage Circulating Online Showing Flames and Smoke Rising from the Compound.

The Elite Paramilitary Force is Personally Loyal to Ramzan Kadyrov, the Head of the Chechen Republic, and has Fought on the Front Line in Ukraine with Deployments in Kharkiv and Donetsk. In a separate Incident, the FSB Office in Achkhoy-Martan was also Damaged following a Drone Strike.

Photographs Posted on Social Media, showed Blown-Out Windows andDdebris strewn across the ground in front of the Building. A Russian-flagged Tanker carrying Sunflower Ooil from Russia to Georgia, was also Attacked Off the Turkish Coast in the Fourth such Incident this Week. Ukraine has Not Claimed Responsibility for any of the Attacks. Meanwhile, a Russian Ballistic Missile struck an Industrial area in Dnipro, Eastern Ukraine, on Monday, Killing Four People and Injuring 40, Local Authorities said.

The Strikes come Amid a Slew of U.S.-led Diplomacy to Push both Sides Towards a Peace Settlement. Steve Witkoff (R), Trump’s (R) Special Envoy, is Travelling to Moscow on Tuesday, for His Sixth Meeting in 2025 with Vladimir Putin. Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian President, arrived on His First Visit to Ireland on Tuesday after Meeting Emmanuel Macron in France, as He seeks to Shore-Up Support from Ukraine’s European Allies.

Ahead of a New Round of Talks, Russia Claimed to have Captured the Strategically Important Cities of Vovchansk and Pokrovsk, where Moscow’s Forces have been Fighting for more than a year. Ukrainian Officials Disputed the Claim, saying Heavy Fighting was Continuing on the Northern Outskirts of Pokrovsk, Donetsk. Andriy Kovalenko, the Head of Ukraine’s Centre for Countering Disinformation, said Russia’s Main Aim behind the Claim was to Ensure All the Pressure in Peace Talks was put on Ukraine.

While Russian Officials have attempted to Present the Full Capture of the Region as Inevitable, Analysts say that Achieving such an Objective would likely take Years at current Rates-of-Advance. Diplomatic Activity intensified at theEend of last month, after Details of a 28-point Peace Plan linked to Trump were Leaked to the Press. The Proposal, Drafted in Consultation with Moscow, would have Banned Ukraine from joining Nato, imposed Limits on its Armed Forces and Handed over Remaining Ukrainian-held Parts of the Donbas.

The Plan was Strongly Rejected by Kyiv and Several European Governments, which have since Drawn-Up an Alternative Plan viewed as Less Favourable to Russia and more Protective of Ukrainian Sovereignty.

The White House said it Remained “Very Optimistic” about the Chances of an Agreement as Witkoff and Jared Kushner (R), Trump’s Son-in-Law, Travelled to Moscow on Tuesday. Last week, Witkoff was Accused of being too Close to Russia, after a Leaked Call showed He Advised the Kremlin on how to Pitch a Peace Deal to Trump.

His Latest Visit to Moscow follows Two Days of Meetings in Florida between Ukrainian and U.S. Officials. Witkoff and Kushner both Played Roles in the US-led Push to End the War in Gaza. Before Heading to Moscow, Witkoff held Discussions with European Leaders, including Sir Keir Starmer, as well as with Ukraine’s New Chief Negotiator, Rustem Umerov.

Speaking on Monday, Macron said there was “No Finalised Peace Plan” and Insisted that both Ukraine and its European Partners must be Directly Involved in any Agreement to End the War.
