When Trump (R) Announced in His Primetime White House Address, that All Military Members would receive $1,776 Bonuses, He said Revenue from Tariffs would be Paying for it. But a Pentagon Official Confirmed, that the Department of War (DOW) Funding is Covering the $2.6 billion Price Tag for the so-called "Warrior Dividends", not Revenue from the Tariffs on Imports.
DOW Secretary Pete Hegseth (R) directed the Pentagon to Pay for the Bonuses from $2.9 billion in MilitaryHhousing Funds, that Congress Appropriated in Trump's Sprawling "One Big Beautiful Bill" Law, according to the Official, which was Approved Summer 2024. "We made a lot more money than anybody thought because of tariffs, and the bill helped us along," Trump said in His 19-minute Address to the Nation on Dec. 17th,2025. "Nobody deserves it more than our military."
The Funds covering the "Warrior Dividends" were originally intended to Boost the Basic Allowance for Housing, which Helps Service Members Pay for Off-Base Housing Costs. The Remaining $300 million left from the Housing Program, will Support Future Basis Allowance for Housing Requirements, the Pentagon said.
Trump said the $1,776 Checks, a Value Selected to Match the Founding of the U.S. in 1776, will go to each of the Nation's 1.45 million Service Members before Christmas. He Credited "tariffs, along with the just-passed 'One Big Beautiful Bill" for making it Possible. "And the Checks are already on the way," Trump said.
"I can think of no better Americans to receive this check right before Christmas," Hegseth said. "To the American warrior: President Trump and I, and the entire War Department, we have your back." Trump's Sweeping Tariffs Imposed over the past year, have Generated about $200 billion in Revenue, according to the latest December Tally from the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Agency.
The Supreme Court is set to soon weigh in on the Legality of Trump's use of Presidential emergency Powers to Impose the Tariffs. If the Court Rules against the President on Tariffs, Trump would have to Rollback the Centerpiece of His Economic Agenda. Trump's $2,000 Rebate Checks would Cost $600 billion, Double the New Revenue from Tariffs
Trump in November, floated Sending All Americans $2,000 Rebate Checks paid for entirely by Revenue collected from Tariffs. The Proposal would seemingly need Approval from Congress, which Holds the Purse Power, to Appropriate Federal Funds.
The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a Nonpartisan Nonprofit, found the Rebate Checks would cost $600 billion in a year, about Double the $300 billion the U.S. is expected to Generate from Trump's Duties on Imports.
