Italian PM Supports Ukraine but No Troops

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, said Italy will Not send Troops to Ukraine, but will continue providing Political and Military Support to Kyiv, and maintaining Pressure on Russia.

She stressed that Italy’s position is Defined by a Clear Limit: Continued Support for Ukraine without Deploying Italian Forces on Ukrainian Territory. "I Reiterate: Italy will not send troops to Ukraine," Meloni said.

At the same time, She Assured Continuity in Policy, Stating that Italy "will not abandon Ukraine at this most delicate moment."

This Stance has been Consistent throughout 2025. Meloni has repeatedly Rejected Proposals from France and the UK to Deploy European Troops, calling them Difficult to Implement and Questionable in Terms of Effectiveness.

Instead, Italian Officials Favor External Monitoring, Training Ukrainian Forces outside Ukraine, and Institutional Security Guarantees without a Permanent Troop Presence.

Earlier, Meloni said that Italy Supports using Frozen Russian Assets to provide a Reparations Loan to Ukraine, Stressing that this must be done on a "solid legal basis".

The Media previously Reported that the U.S. is ready to Offer Ukraine Security Guarantees similar to Article 5 of the NATO Treaty. It states: That an Armed Attack against One NATO Member is considered an Attack against All Members.
