Trump (R) is proposing to allow Offshore Oil Drilling across Massive portions of the U.S. Coast starting as soon as 2026, including in Locations that have Banned Offshore Drilling for Decades. And according to New Reports, California is the First State the Plan Targets.
A few weeks ago Trump’s Department of the Interior (DOI) was considering a New Plan to Lease Waters off: Alaska, California, Carolinas, New England, and more, for Fossil Fuel Drilling. Their Goal is to Reward their Fossil Fuel Paymasters with Maximum Profits, while the Rest of America Suffers with Higher Prices, Pollution, and Climate Chaos.
Then, last week California led the Nation in giving Trump the Electoral Drubbing, with Proposition 50 was the most Direct Fight-Back to His Lawless Redistricting Scheme. California Voters turned out in Record Numbers in a Vote seen as a Repudiation of Trump.
Trump and His Team said: “Trump officials are planning to propose oil drilling off the California coast for the first time in decades, according to a draft map, a move sure to antagonize Gov. Gavin Newsom and other Democrats in California.”
But, Trump’s Offshore Drilling Plan is probably at least a year away from Final Approval, and just because He Offers the Ocean for Lease, doesn’t mean that Big Oil will want to Fight California and other States in Court to actually Drill.
But the Bad News is that if Trump Succeeds, this Plan would remain in Place at least till 2030, well after Trump is supposed to leave Office. And, while We can Count on California Elected Officials to Fight Back, we can’t be sure Alaskans or other Elected Officials like Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA, 4th Districk) will do the same.
