Trump Suffers Major Court Blow

U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis has Issued a Restraining Order Prohibiting Federal Agents from using Riot Control Weapons against Journalists and Nonviolent Protesters. The move followed a Lawsuit from the Chicago Headline Club and Others, citing a Ppattern of Brutality by the Trump (R) Administration against those covering protests. The Ruling specifically Bans the use of Munitions and Physical Force against clearly Identified Journalists and Peaceful Demonstrators.

Attorneys for the Plaintiffs stated, “The officers are not physically threatened. No government property is threatened. Defendants are acting to intimidate and silence the press and civilians engaged in protected First Amendment activities.” The Restraining Order Bars Federal Agents from Arresting Nonviolent Protesters without Probable Cause, and requires All Officers to Display Identification, even in Riot Gear.

Department of Justice (DOJ) Attorney Eric MacArthur stated, “These are violent people.” He added, “This is unsustainable, the president is entitled to say ‘enough is enough’ and bring in the National Guard.” The Ruling came as Illinois Judge April Perry Granted a Restraining Order against Trump’s National Guard Aeployment.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin (R) stated, “The First Amendment protects speech and peaceful assembly – not rioting.”

McLaughlin said, “DHS is taking reasonable and constitutional measures to uphold the rule of law and protect our officers. ICE officers are facing a nearly 1000% increase in assaults against them as they put their lives on the line to arrest murderers, rapists, and gang members.

McLaughlin added, “We remind members of the media to exercise caution as they cover these violent riots and remind journalists that covering unlawful activities in the field does come with risks – though our officers take every reasonable precaution to mitigate those dangers to those exercising protected First Amendment rights."

McLaughlin concluded, “President Trump and Secretary Noem are committed to restoring law and order in Chicago and around the country. Anyone who actively obstructs law enforcement in the performance of their sworn duties will face consequences, which could include arrest.”
