Trump Administration Fires Fannie Mae Ethics Officials

The Trump (R) Administration has Fired about a Dozen Officials within Fannie Mae’s Ethics and Internal Investigations Unit, Removing some Guardrails meant to Address and Head-Off Misconduct, according to People familiar with the matter.

Fannie Mae Representatives held a Virtual Meeting on Thursday, that Informed the Officials they were being Let-Go. No Reason was given for their Termination. Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte, who Oversees the Company and has been Instrumental in its Shake-Up, wasn’t on the Call.

The Unit’s Gutting comes days after other Leadership Changes at the Mortgage Giant, as the Trump Administration considers an Initial Public offering of Shares in the Company. Suzanne Libby, Fannie Mae’s Chief Ethics Officer, was Fired last week, and Danielle McCoy, who Served as General Counsel, also Stepped Down after being Pressured by Leadership, some of the People said.

The Ethics Team Investigates Complaints that come in through a Tip Line, including Allegations of Internal Fraud or the Illegal use of Funds.

, Pulte and Leaders at Fannie Mae had grown Tired of Investigations they viewed as being too Tailored toward Allegations related to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion'

Pulte in a Cryptic Social-Media Post Thursday wrote, “DEI is DEAD at Fannie Mae!” A Federal Housing Finance Agency Spokesperson said the same thing when asked for Comment.

The Ethics Dismissals were part of Broader Reductions at Fannie Mae. Pulte in a later Social-Media Post said 62 People were Cut Thursday, in what He described as “a standard business layoff.”

Pulte has been the Driving Force behind a Series of Investigations into Allegations of Mortgage Fraud by Trump Foes, including New York Attorney General Letitia James (D), who was Indicted on Federal Charges this month, that She has Pleaded Not Guilty.
