Canada Issues U.S. Travel Advisory

The Canadian Government has Updated its U.S. Travel Advisory, adding Warnings for LGBTQ+ Travelers, amid Concerns about Ggender Identity Issues under U.S. Policies.

The Revised Notice Highlights possible Risks to Visas and Residency Status, and stresses the importance of knowing U.S. entry requirements. Canada warned that U.S. officials may revoke visas or residency for admission violations or past crimes.

The Government of Canada stated, "Federal systems in the U.S. are changing to no longer accept markers of gender identity. Sex assigned at birth may now be requested by federal forms and processes."

Canada Warns LGBTQI+ Travelers, that U.S. Federal Systems don’t Recognize “X” Gender Markers, Requiring use of Sex assigned at Birth, on Visas and Social Security Forms, potentially Complicating Border Entry.

The Advisory urged Canadian Travelers to thoroughly Review their Documents to Confirm Compliance with U.S. Entry Rules, and to be Prepared for Heightened Questioning or Scrutiny.

Canadian Travelers have Reduced Visits to the U.S. as Tariffs, a Weaker Canadian Dollar, and Shifting Preferences, have Squeezed Cross-Border Demand. Industry Groups have cited Higher Costs and Tighter Entry Procedures, Prompting Concerns over the Alleged Politicization of Travel.
