Zelenskyy on Foreign Troops in Ukraine

As part of Security Guarantees, Foreign Countries will be ready to send Thousands of their Troops to Ukraine. In addition, the Issue of Protecting Air and Maritime Space is being Discussed, said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a Briefing with European Council President António Costa.

Zelenskyy said: "It is still too early to talk about the details of the security guarantees, but a plan is already in place. The issue will involve coordination among countries for the protection of the skies. And this already comes to us with an understanding in terms of numbers — the number of aircraft, the number of crews. And also coordination at sea, and we also understand which countries are ready to implement what,".

Zelenskyy also spoke about Foreign Troops on Ukrainian Territory, noting that this Issue is currently being Discussed with other Countries. "And also the matter you mentioned — that there is information about the deployment of 10,000 (foreign troops in Ukraine. I won’t speak about the exact number, but what is important is that we are discussing all this. Yes, it will definitely not be in the hundreds, but in the thousands. And that is a fact, but it is still a little too early to go into details."

On September 4th in Paris, Representatives of European Countries gathered to Discuss Security Guarantees for Ukraine. Delegates from more than 30 States arrived at the Élysée Palace. According to Media Reports, there is Information about 30,000 Foreign Troops who will be sent to Ukraine, as part of the Security Guarantees. Some Countries have Not yet made a Decision on this matter.

At the same time, most States provided Specifics regarding the Security Guarantees. So far 10 Countries have Agreed to send Troops to Ukraine: Australia, Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, Denmark, France, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden, are ready to Deploy Forces in Ukraine.

As for the U.S. Contribution to the Security Guarantees, this will be Clarified in a few weeks, French President Emmanuel Macron stated. For now, it is known that Washington is prepared to provide Protection of Ukraine’s Airspace, but the U.S. does Not plan to send its own Troops to Ukraine.
