Employees at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Campus in Atlanta, have been told to make a Full Return to Headquarters on Sept. 15th, a Little more than a Month after a Gunman Fired Hundreds-of-Rounds at CDC Buildings along Clifton Road in DeKalb County.
The Notice was sent via email from the New Chief Operating Officer, Lynda Chapman. "Your safety remains our top priority", Chapman said. "We are taking necessary steps to restore our workplace and will return to regular on-site operations no later than Monday, September 15."
Former CDC Employee Sarah Boim, stated that the Current Workers She has Spoken with are Uncomfortable Discussing their Concerns Publicly and are Worried about their Safety. "People are not wanting to come on camera, and they're not wanting to go on the record because they're scared," Boim said. "There's this environment of fear - fear of people losing their jobs, fear for their safety."
The email said Workers "will be expected to return to their approved offices." The Note stated that Repairs from Gunfire at Roybal are well Underway, and Alternative Workspaces will be Designated for those areas still under Repair. The email, some Workers said, does Not Address their Security Concerns. "One person in particular said their workplace was attacked by a gunman whose goal was to kill as many scientists and public health experts as possible," Boim said.
A DeKalb County Officer, David Rose, was Killed confronting the Gunman on Aug. 8th. The Shooter, Patrick Joseph White, Died of a Self-Inflicted Shot.
According to Officials, roughly 200 Bullets Hit Six different CDC Buildings. That included the Office of Dr. Demetre Daskalakis, according to the New York Times.
Dr. Daskalakis was among Four Senior CDC Officials to Rresign this week, as the Agency's Director, Dr. Susan Monarez, was Fired by the Trump (R) Administration.
HHS Sec. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (I) has Named His Deputy Jim O'Neill (R) as the Deputy CDC Director.
