U.S. District Judge Andrew Carter, for the Southern District of New York, has issued an _Injunction Blocking the Trump (R) Administration’s attempt to Close the Job Corps Program for Low-Income youth, ruling the Department of Labor (DOL) Violated Federal Law.
The Decision Preserves Vital Support for At-Risk Youth. The DOL Admitted Ending Job Corps, without an Injunction, would leave many Students Homeless.
In Hearings, Carter noted that Officials Conceded they Lacked Authority to End a Congressionally Mandated Program.
Carter stated, “Once Congress has passed legislation stating that a program like the Job Corps must exist, and set aside funding for that program, the DOL is not free to do as it pleases; it is required to enforce the law as intended by Congress.”
