The 2025 New York City Democratic Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) Primary consisted of Five Rounds, with the winner needing 50% +1 of the Vote.
The current Mayor Eric Adams (I) and the former Governor Andrew Cuomo (I) who Lost in the Primory, will be on the General Election as Independents.
After Round Three, Instant Runoff Results showed Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani (D), the young Progressive winning 56%-44% over former Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D).
The Republican Race: Curtis Sliwa (R) was Uncontested, and will be the Mayor pick. He is an American Activist, Radio Talk Show Host, and Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Guardian Angels, a Nonprofit Crime Prevention Organization. Sliwa was the Republican Nominee for the 2021 New York City Mayoral Election, losing to Eric Adams (D).
All the other Republicans are Running as Indepdendents in the General Election.
