Ukrainian President Vlodymyr Zelenskyy, has met with Austria’s President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Christian Stocker, securing Non-Military support. The Backing will enhance effort in De-Mining, Energy, and Cybersecurity. The visit marked His First to Austria, since Russia’s invasion.
Zelenskyy said, "We are counting on Austria’s support, both at the state and societal levels, on a sensitive issue for Ukraine: the presence of former Ukrainian officials and oligarchs who are evading justice by hiding in Europe, including Austria, and concealing stolen assets."
Van der Bellen Reaffirmed Austria’s Military Neutrality, but voiced Political Support for Ukraine. He backed EU Sanctions on Russia, Condemned its Aggression, and called for serious Peace Negotiations.
Van der Bellen stated, “I appeal once again to those in power in the Kremlin to end this illegal war and start serious, honest negotiations. Austria’s President Alexander has assured us once again today, that Ukraine is ready for this.”
Ukraine’s Military reported 138 Russian Drones launched at Donetsk, with 125 intercepted or jammed. Some caused Damage. Austria’s President Alexander has Condemned Russia’s Proposal to Trade Ukrainian Children for Soldiers, calling it “Madness.” Austria has offered Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine, but has Avoided sending Weapony.
The Austrian government has faced Criticism for maintaining Diplomatic Ties with Russia, despite Denouncing the Invasion. Ukraine has increasingly garnered Support from European Allies amid the Conflict's Escalation.
