New York is Planning to Build the Nation's First New Major Nuclear Power Plant in more than 15 years.
The Project should add at least 1 Gigawatt of New Power Generation to the State's abilities, Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) said Monday, enough to Power about a Million Homes.
Because of Safety and Cost concerns, only Five New Commercial Reactors have Opened in the U.S. since 1991.
The New York Reactor could Kick-Off a "New Era" of Investment in Nuclear Power.
It could be a Big Reactor, or a Handful of Small Modular Reactors, and could help Jump-Start a New era of U.S. Nuclear Reactor Construction.
Nuclear Power Stocks Rise after the Announcment. The Stocks of Leading Nuclear Power Companies are up about 2%. Shares of Oklo, Cameco (CCJ), and Nuscale Power (SMR), are Trending, but we are a long way from Shovels in the Ground on this.
