Jury Delivers Blow in NY AG Criminal Probe

New York Attorney General Letitia James (D) is currently under Investigation by the Department of Justice (DOJ) over Allegations of misrepresenting a Virginia Home as Her Primary Residence to secure better Loan Terms. The Inquiry follows a Criminal Referral from William Pulte (R), Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency. A Grand Jury in the Eastern District of Virginia has issued Subpoenas related to Her Alleged Misrepresentations regarding a Brooklyn Multi-Family Property.

James has gained Attention for Her Legal Actions against Trump (R), including Winning a $454 million Judgment Against Him and his Family for alleged Business Fraud. In response to the Investigation, Attorney Abbe Lowell condemned the actions as Politically Motivated Retaliation, arguing that the Accusations arose after Trump Publicly Criticized James.

U.S. Attorney John Sarcone III said, "Unlike Letitia James, who unethically ran around the state campaigning on getting Donald Trump… my office conducts itself in a manner that is proper and professional." Lowell asserted that Discrepancies in James' Property Listings are Honest Mistakes. James did Not intend to use the Virginia Home as Her Primary Residence and possesses Documentation to Support Her Position. Official City Records classifying the Brooklyn Property as a Four-unit Residence Contradict Pulte’s Claims.

Lowell said, "These baseless and long-discredited allegations, put to rest by my April 24 letter to the Department of Justice, are suddenly back in the news just days after President Trump publicly attacked Attorney General James."

Lowell added, "This appears to be the political retribution President Trump threatened to exact that AG Bondi assured the Senate would not occur on her watch. If prosecutors are genuinely interested in the truth, we are prepared to meet false claims with facts."

Criminal Investigations into Fraud Cases remain Infrequent, accounting for less than 1% of the DOJ's Annual Prosecutions. Critics have expressed concern about the Investigation's unusual Public Nature.

Lowell said, "The stunning hypocrisy of President Trump’s complaint that the Justice Department had been ‘politicized’ and ‘weaponized’ against him is laid bare as he and others in his administration are now asking you to undertake the very same practice."

Since taking office, Trump has pursued multiple Investigations targeting Officials and Entities opposing His Policies, including Democratic Attorneys General like James, suggesting Potential Political Retribution.
