House Democrats will hold their Leadership Elections on Nov. 19th and 20th, Democratic Caucus Vice Chair Ted Lieu (D-CA, 33rd District) announced Thursday.
Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY, 8th District) is poised to Stay on as Minority Leader for the the next Two years, despite Democrats' disappointing Performance in Tuesday's Elections.
Likewise, House Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-MS, 5th District) and Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar (D-CA, 33rd District) are both expected to Remain.
Lieu said in a "dear colleague" Letter to House Democrats, that "while control of the House has not yet been decided ... We must prepare to continue our work to put People Over Politics in the 119th Congress while the process of counting every vote continues."
That echoes Jeffries' Statement earlier on Thursday, that noted Democrats have a Theoretical Chance to Retake the House, if uncalled Races in California and Arizona go their way.
Still, many Democrats are Pessimistic about their Party's chances of Einning Control of the Chamber.
Whether Democrats take the Majority or remain in the Minority, will be Key for the Leadership Elections, as the Former would Open-Up a New Leadership Slot and Result in significant Reshuffling.
Reps. Sara Jacobs (D-CA, 53rd District) and Robin Kelly (D-IL, 2nd District) have both Signaled Plans to Run for Lieu's Spot. should Democrats gain Control and Lieu jumps up to Caucus Chair.
Rep. Robert Garcia (D-CA, 42nd District) has floated Running to Replace Jacobs, as the Leadership Representative for Members who have served 5 Terms or less in that Scenario.
