Next on the Electoral Calendar are the Nevada Primary and Caucus. Here's what to know about the Parallel Events taking Place on Feb. 6th.
In 2021, Nevada's Legislature passed a Law, that requires the State to hold Presidential Primaries, which inform the Nomination Process of the Democratic and Republican Parties. The Law was a response to Reporting Issues during the 2020 Democratic Caucus that led to a Recount. But, a Political Party can run a Party Funded Caucus.
The Republican Party in Nevada has decided to stick with the Caucus system. In May 2023, the Party Sued the State about the Primary Election Law. Nevada's GOP then passed a Rule barring any Aandidate who signed up for the State's Primary from participating in its Caucus and, therefore, receiving Delegates.
The Democratic Primary
Whoever Wins the Nevada Democratic Primary on Feb. 6th, will receive the State's 49 Delegates, to the DNC Convention.
Candidates on the Democratic Primary Ballot include: President Biden and Author Marianne Williamson. Dean Phillips will Not be on the Ballot, because He missed the Filing Deadline.
Dean Phillips (MN, 3rd District), announced in October 2023, he would mount a long-shot Challenge to Biden, because he does Not believe the President can Win another term. The 54-year-old Millionaire Businessman, and Gelato Company Co-Founder.
The Republican Party
There will be a Republican Primary on Feb. 6th. This Election, however, is Non-Binding, and does Not decide who will Receive the Party's Delegates. Instead, a Republican Caucus organized by the GOP, will take place on Thursday, Feb. 8th. It will Decide who is Awarded the State's 26 Delegates, to the RNC Convention.
Registered Republicans in Nevada can Legally Vote in both the Primary and Caucus. But since the Primary has No Affect on the Delegate Count, why go to the Primary?
Republican Candidates on the Primary: Haley is on the Republican Primary's Ballot. Since She did not Remove Her Name, She will Not receive any Delegates from Nevada.
