LA Supreme Court Asking Lawmakers To Redraw Current District Maps


The Majority of Justices on the Louisiana Supreme Court, are asking Lawmakers to Redraw their Current Districts, when the Legislature goes into a Special Session. They say this should be Included, in January, 2024, Session.

The Session will Focus on Redrawing Congressional Districts, but in a Letter written to Governor-elect Jeff Landry (R) and other State Leaders, the Justices are asking to be Included.

There are Seven Supreme Court Justices representing various areas across the state.

The Justices say it's been 25 years since their Districts have been Re-Drawn, and they are calling for a Map to include a Second Majority Black District.

Currently, there is Only One Majority Black District, based in New Orleans.
