Google's Russian Operations To File For Bankruptcy

Google's Moscow-based Operations will file for Bankruptcy, citing Russian Authorities' seizure of its Bank Accounts.

Google posted a Notice-of-Intent to declare Bankruptcy for its Russian Subsidiary, on Russia’s Federal Register on Wednesday.

"We previously announced that we paused the vast majority of our commercial operations in Russia," a Google Official said.

"The Russian authorities’ seizure of Google Russia’s bank account has made it untenable for our Russia office to function, including employing and paying Russia-based employees, paying suppliers and vendors, and meeting other financial obligations."

It's unclear how many Employees, are set to be affected by the Bankruptcy, or how many Users in Russia could stand to be given a black screen.

The Technology giant will continue to provide Free Services, including: Search, YouTube, Gmail, Maps, Android, and Play.

The Announcement is the latest in the Alphabet-owned company's spat with Russia.

Last month, a Moscow Court ordered the Seizure of the equivalent of $15 million from Google rooted in Content Restrictions on YouTube.

In March, Google announced it was pulling Russian State-owned Media Content, including Apps for RT and Sputnik, from its Google Play Store amid Russia's War in Ukraine.
