On March 15th, the Senate confimed Shalanda Young, as Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
Young previously was serving in an Acting capacity from March 25, 2021 through March 15, 2022, concurrently as Deputy Director. She previously worked for the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations, as its Staff Director.
Young is the First Black Woman to Lead the Office, which is responsible for laying out the President's Budget Requests to Congress.
OMB’s Mission is to Assist the President in meeting Policy, Budget, Management, and Regulatory Objectives, and to fulfill the Agency’s Statutory Responsibilities.
OMB's most prominent function is to Produce the President's Budget, but it also examines Agency Programs, Policies, and Procedures, to see whether they Comply with the President's Policies, and Coordinates Inter-Agency Policy Initiatives.
