The Supreme Court has Dismissed an Appeal, by a group of New York City Public School Teachers, who sought to Stop a Vaccine Mandate that did Not include a Religious Exemption Option.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who handles Emergency Requests out of the New York-based 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, Denied the group's request, months after she Rejected an earlier Challenge to the City's Vaccine Mandate. Both Rejections came with No explanation.
The latest Failed Appeal comes as the City is set to Fire, 3,700 or 1%, of Municipal Workers for their Refusal to receive at least One Vaccine Dose, and was on Unpaid Leave.
Former Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) announced the Vaccine Requirement for Municipal Workers in October 2021.
Workers who Lost their Bids for Exemption, had until this week to show Proof of Vaccination.
The Unvaccinated Workers represent a small share of the city’s 370,000 Person Workforce, of whom about 95% have gotten at least One Shot.
The current Mayor, Eric Adams (D), said since they were on Leave, they Quit, and was Not Fired.
