NY Ballot Access Bill

Thanks to Richard Winger of Ballot Access News for this post.

On Jan. 10, 2022, State Rep. John Salka (R-121st District, Madison and Otsego Counties), introduced A8683.

The Bill relates to the Number of Signatures for Independent Nominating Petitions, and Votes to maintain Ballot Qualification:

- Decreases the Number of Signatures to 15,000 Signatures for Statewide Independent Candidates.

Changes the Petition Period to 12 weeks and the Petitioning time to June-August.

- 50,000 Votes to maintain Party Ballot Status from 2% of President or Governor Vote.

These Changes Reverse the Hostile 2020 Ballot Access Changes.

The Bill is now in Committe for Review.
