NJ Enacts Democratic Friendly Map For Congress

New Jersey’s Redistricting Committee approved a New Map of Congressional Districts, Wednesday, that will likely result in a 9-3 Democratic Edge, with a tough Fight looming over One North Jersey Swing Seat.

State Senator Tom Kean Jr. (R-21st District), the Senate Minority Leader, the Son of the popular former GOP Governor, looks to be the Big Winner, as Democrats agreed to Redraw the District, where he plans to Challenge Rep. Tomasz P. Malinowski (D-NJ, 7th Congressional District), to include more likely Republican Voters.

The Map could Sacrifice Malinowski, in order to Solidify Democrats’ hold on Three other Swing Districts held by Reps. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ, 5th District), Andy Kim (D-NJ, 3rd District), and Mikey Sherill (D-NJ, 11th District).

All Four Democratic House Lawmakers, were Elected in Districts that previously favored the GOP. A Suburban Revolt of Republicans under the Leadership of Trump carried them to Victory.

The New Map will likely result in either a 10-2 Democratic Delegation, if Malinowski manages to Hold-On, or 9-3 if he Loses, a One-Seat Pickup for the New Jersey GOP.

The Redistricting Panel is Evenly divided between the Two Parties, both of which Submitted Maps behind Closed Doors.

Retired NJ Supreme Court Justice, John Wallace, served as a Tiebreaker. He voted in Favor of the Democrats’ Map, saying in a Wednesday Meeting that he did so because Republicans had their way 10 years ago.

Jersey Democrats have plenty of reasons to be Anxious, about the upcoming Midterm Elections, especially after Gov. Phil Murphy (D) eked out a much closer-than-expected Re-Election Fight last month. Polls show roughly Half of Americans Disapprove of Biden, One of many Signs that Democrats face tough Odds Nationally in 2022.

Malinowski faces a daunting Rematch in 2022 against Kean, who fell just 1% short of Beating him in 2020.

Republicans are hoping to Pick-Up at least 10 House Seats Nationally. The Party is expecting Big Gains thanks to Redrawn Districts in States such as: Florida, North Carolina, Ohio, and Texas. Democrats are expected to Redraw Maps to help themselves in: Illinois, and New York.

Both Parties are axing Swing Districts, in favor, of shoring up their Own Incumbents, leading to far Fewer Competitive Districts.
