New York Governor, Kathy Hochul (D), announced on Thursday, that the U.S. State Department is sending up to 1,100 Afghan Nationals, to the Empire State.
They could be Resettled in New York Communities throughout the next Six months.
The Governor’s Office said, that the Evacuees were Approved for Entry by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), for urgent Humanitarian reasons.
Hochul also released the Breakdown, of which Communities, those Evacuees will be placed in, between Sept. 2021 and March 31st, 2022.
Albany - 100 People
Buffalo - 335 People
New York City - 240 People
Rochester - 200 People
Syracuse - 248 People
For a Total of 1,123 People, for now.
