How Some TX Companies Are Handling The TX Abortion Bill

Over the past few days, Companies have been scrambling to decide what, if anything, they would do about the New Abortion Law. Abortion is an Issue that is closely associated with Religious views, an area where Businesses are exceedingly cautious.

Bumble, a Woman-founded and Woman-led, Dating App, based in Austin, said it was Donating Funds to Organizations that supported Women in Texas seeking Abortions.

Match Group, another Dating Company, based in Dallas, set-up a Fund for Employees affected by the Law, and Shar Dubey, the Chief Executive, sent a Memo to employees expressing her Disappointment in the New Law.

Lyft's Cheif Executive, Logan Green, said the Company would Pay the Legal Costs of any Drivers who faced Lawsuits under the Law. TX SB8 threatens to punish drivers for getting people where they need to go - especially women exercising their right to choose, he wrote on Twitter.

Uber's Chief executive, Dara Khosrowshahi, said on Twitter that his Company would Cover its Drivers' Legal Expenses.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise, has a Medical Plan, that Allows Employees to seek Abortions Out-of-State, and Pays for Loding for such a Trip.

By Friday Afternoon, at least Two Efforts to Organize a Broader Corporate response Opposing the Law was underway. But many Companies are wary about inserting themselves in the Debate.
