RCV Update For CO And DC

Thanks to Richard Winger of Ballot Access News for this post.

Coloado

On June 28th, Governor Jared Polis (D), signed Bill HB 1871, which makes it easier for Cities to use, Ranked-Choice-Voting (RCV), for their Own Elections.

The New Law requires Counties to help the Cities Administer RCV Elections.

District of Columbia

On July 14th, a Majority of Members of the City Council introduced a Bill to use RCV, in both Primaries and General Elections.

Also it provides for Single Transferable Vote, for the Races for City Council-at-Large, which Elects Multiple Winners.

The Single Transferable Vote (STV), is a type of RCV that is used for Electing a Group of Candidates (e.g., a Committee or Council). When used to Elect One Candidate, it is basically the same as Instant-Runoff-Voting.

The Bill still doesn't have a Bill Number.
