The First Amendment and the Privacy Act serve to Protect American Citizens from having their Information Collected by the Government without Cause.
But, the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Fusion Centers has been Violating these Laws for Years.
Created to Prevent “Terrorism” these Fusion Centers have been Improperly Collecting and Sharing Inaccurate Data with Law Enforcement Agencies.
With Little Oversight or Accountability as of now, it is our Responsibility to Advocate for the Rights of our Fellow Citizens.
Much of the Information Collected involves First Amendment Protected Activities and has Nothing to do with any Potential for Violence or Terrorism. For Example, the Portland Police Chief Admitted that he had Coordinated with Local Fusion Centers about Peaceful Protests against Police Brutality.
These Centers are Funded by our Tax Dollars, and we Cannot keep Funding Operations that Blatantly Infringe on Americans’ Rights.
