Morgan Stanley Must Cut Ties with Pebble Mine

The Canadian Company Northern Dynasty Minerals is moving forward with its Disastrous Pebble Mine Project, a proposed Open-Pit, Gold and Copper Mega-Mine, that would Destroy Alaska's Spectacular Bristol Bay Wilderness and its World-Renowned Salmon Runs, Abundant Wildlife, and Native Communities.

To Kill the Pebble Mine and Save Bristol Bay, we must Shut Off Investor Money fueling the Mine.

So far Four of the Largest Mining Companies in the World have walked back their Investment in the Pebble Mine Project in the face of mounting
Public Pressure. Now, Morgan Stanley, a Major Shareholder in Northern Dynasty Minerals, must do the same.

Bristol Bay is a spectacular swath of Rivers, Lakes, Wetlands, and Tundra, that's home to Brown Bears, Whales, Majestic Bald Eagles, and Native Communities that thrive off its World-renowned Salmon Fishery.

Not only is it an Environmental Treasure, but Bristol Bay is an Economic Lifeline for the Region. The Watershed supplies Half the World's Sockeye Salmon, the Fishery supports 14,000 Jobs, and Generates $1.5 Billion Annually. It's also a Beloved Tourism Destination.

But all of that is threatened by the Pebble Mine, which could Produce up to 10 billion tons of Mining Waste that would have to be Stored forever in the Rivers, Streams, and Wildlands of Bristol Bay.

The Overwhelming Majority of People in the Region Oppose the Mega-Mine coming to their Community including: Business Leaders, Commercial Fishermen, Native Village Corporations, and Tribes.

As the Custodian for over 3.6 million Shares in Northern Dynasty Minerals, Morgan Stanley is helping to Advance this Project at the Expense of the People and Wilderness of Bristol Bay and in Disregard of Morgan Stanley's own Commitment to Environmental and Social Responsibility.

If all these Reasons aren't enough, at a time of Deepening Climate Crisis the Pebble Mine's First Phase alone is Projected to Emit nearly One million tons of Greenhouse Gasses a year.

The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) has been Fighting to Kill the Pebble Mine for over a Decade, and in fact, they're in Court Challenging the Trump Administration's Withdrawal of Proposed Protections that would have Stopped this Disastrous Project.
