The Democratic National Committee (DNC) intends to Hold its Fourth Presidential Primary Debate on One night on October 15th, packing the Stage with 12 Qualified Candidates.
"To address several inquiries we have received we are writing to let you know that, pending a final decision after the certification deadline, it is the intention of the DNC and our media partners to hold the October debate over one night on Tuesday October 15th," the DNC Wrote in an email to Campaigns.
Twelve Candidates have Qualified for the October Debate: Joe Biden; Cory Booker; Pete Buttigieg; Julián Castro; Tulsi Gabbard; Kamala Harris; Amy Klobuchar; Beto O'Rourke; Bernie Sanders; Tom Steyer; Elizabeth Warren; and Andrew Yang.
Candidates must get 2% Support in Four DNC-Approved Polls, as well as Donations from 130,000 Unique Donors, in order to make the Debate Stage.
The Debate is at Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio. The CNN Anchors are Erin Burnett and Anderson Cooper, who will share Moderating Duties with The Times National Editor Marc Lacey.
After the October Debate, the Thresholds will Rise slightly, as the DNC Bumped-Up the Criteria to Qualify for the November Debate.
- Candidates must receive 3% in Four DNC-Approved Polls.
- Early-State Path: 5% in Two Approved Polls conducted in Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, or South Carolina. Candidates can Meet either of the Two Polling Thresholds in order to Satisfy that Requirement.
- Polls must be Released between Sept. 13th and Seven days before the November Debate, the Timing or Location of which has Not yet been Announced, to Count toward Qualification.
- Candidates now need to receive Donations from 165,000 Unique Donors, with 600 Unique Donors in 20 Different States, Territories, or the District of Columbia.
The Higher Thresholds will Imperil some of the Candidates in the October Debate, but aren't expected to overwhelmingly Reduce the Number of Participating Candidates.
