NH Gov. Signs Bill to Allow Any Presidential Candidate to Run on Party Line

Thanks to Richard Winger of Ballot Access news for this post.

New Hampshire Governor, Chris Sununu (R), on July 10th, 2019, Signed HB 588.

It Deletes the Requirement that Candidates in a Presidential Primary must be Registered Voter in that Party in which they Collect enough Signatures to Run on the Party's Ballot Line.

This would Allow Sanders (I) to run on the Democrat's Ballot Line with being a Registered Democrat.

To get on a Ballot Line:

- Presidential Candidates needs 3,000 Voters, with at least 1,500 from Each Congressional District.

- File a Declaration of Candidacy and Pay a $1,000 Filing Fee in order to have their Name Printed on the Primary Ballot.

thanks for running this story.

However, people may think that presidential primary candidates need a petition. They do not need any petition. They just pay the $1,000. It is only independent presidential candidates, and the presidential nominees of unqualified parties, that need a petition.
