Game Changing Political Reforms for July 4th

Nick Penniman, the CEO of Issue One writes: This week, we are reminded our nation has a history of fighting hard for its democratic ideals. Now more than ever, Americans are yearning for change to fix our broken political system. As we celebrate Independence Day, it’s time to recommit ourselves to our tradition of renewal by passing game-changing political reform legislation.

Issue One is Building a Movement of, Engaged Citizens and Current/Former Elected Leaders, who want to Return our Government to the American People, promoting Transparency and Accountability, Increasing Participation in Elections, and Reducing Pay-to-Play Politics.

Issue One has a Bold Bipartisan Legislative Agenda, and Momentum is Building:

The Honest Ads Act - would address Loopholes in Political Disclosure Rules that allow Foreign Actors like China, Iran, and Russia to Influence American Politics Anonymously through Paid Online Advertising.

The Election Protection & Integrity Certification Act - is Designed to keep Foreign Money Out of our Elections and Ensure that Politically Active Nonprofit Organizations Comply with the Existing Ban on Foreign Money.

The Political Accountability and Transparency Act (PATA) would Allow the Public to know Who is behind Dark Money Ads trying to Influence their Vote in Elections, Strengthen Rules so super PACs truly Operate Independently from Candidates for Office, and Prevent Lawmakers from Abusing Leadership PAC Funds.

The Restoring Integrity to America’s Election Act - is Designed to Restructure the Federal Elections Commission and Ensure it can Effectively Enforce the Election Laws.

Our Broken Political System needs to be Fixed so our Government can Better Serve the People, not the Special Interests. That’s why we’re Must Unite Republicans, Democrats, and independents in the Fight for Political Change.
