Maine Lawmakers, House and Senate, Passing Ranked-Choice Voting (RCV) for Presidential Primary and General Elections.
The State is now on track to becoming the First in the Nation to Implement RCV for Presidential Elections.
The Leader of the RCV Campaign in Maine says this is a great day for Maine Voters who want a Voice and more Choice in Presidential Elections.
“Ranked-choice voting is not only empowering more voters to get involved with the process, participate, and feel like their voices are being heard but, then inviting new people into the process to run for office. To give voters, really, meaningful choices and more voice in our democracy.," said Kyle Bailey, RCV Campaign Manager.
The Bill now goes to the Governor Janet Mills’ (D) Desk for her Consideration.
UPDATE
Despite Passing with strong Majorities in Both Chambers of the Legislature, but the Bill did Not make its way to the Governor’s Desk. Due to an 11th hour Procedural movement, the Bill was sent back to the Senate. The Bill is Not dead. There is still an Opportunity to pass it when the Legislature meets later this summer to address the Governor’s Vetoes. Thank you Richard Winger of Ballot Access News for the updated information.
