NYC BOE Identified 38 Early Voting Polling Sites

New York City Board of Elections (BOE) Identified 38 Early Voting Polling Sites for the General Election in 2019.

A Number that Struck Legislators as Grossly Insufficient for the Rollout of the New Policy.

A recent State Law Mandated the City hold Nine Days of Early Voting ahead of every Election beginning in November 2019.

The Mayor and several City Council Members have called for 100 Polling Sites across the City to handle, currently 4,672,301 Active Voters, that could Potentially show up.

The BOE said Tuesday it has Only Identified around a Third of that Figure, but that it is amenable to Adding more.

"We are open to doing whatever is reasonable ... within the parameters of reality," Michael Ryan, Executive Director of the Elections Bboard, said during a Council Hearing in which his Organization sought to Temper Expectations for the Election this Fall.

"Rather than ramp early voting up to its full capacity this year, the board said it would rather phase in the expansion on the rationale it would be better to successfully pull off a smaller operation than face a widespread calamity that would sow doubt in the process."
