The California State Senate Elections Committee will hear Two Bills involving Ranked-Choice Voting (RCV) on Tuesday, April 23rd.
State Senator Ben Allen (D-26th District, Santa Monica) is the Sponsor of both Bills.
SB 212 - Would let Non-Charter Cities and Non-Charter Counties to use RCV for Elections for their Own Officers. Currently Charter Cities and Charter Counties can do this, but not General Law Cities and Counties.
As of February, 22nd, 2013, 121 of California's 478 Cities are Charter Cities. The State’s Largest Cities: Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Diego, and San Jose, are Charter Cities.
