Thanks to Richard Winger of Ballot Access news for this post.

California State Senator Ben Allen (D-26th District, Santa Monica) has introduced: Elections: Local Voting Methods SB 212.

It would let Non-Charter Counties, and Non-Charter Cities, use Ranked-Choice Voting to Elect their Own Officers.

in California, Cities which have Not adopted a Charter are Organized by State Law. Such a City is called a General Law City, which will be Managed by a 5-Member City Council.

Currently Only Charter Cities and Charter Counties have this Choice.

A similar Bill was Vetoed by former Governor Jerry Brown.
